Important activities of TCS in collaboration with
government and other institutes

Responded to 186 stranded cetaceans from 1998 to 2002.
30 cases of live stranded cetaceans were rehabilitated from 1998 to 2002. Three of them were released¡G the first was a mature male Risso¡¦s dolphin released on September 8, 2000, and was the first rehabilitated cetacean released in Pacific Asia¡Fthe second, a juvenile male Rough-toothed dolphin was released on May 2, 2002¡Fand the third, a juvenile male Spotted dolphin was released on October 15, 2002.
Symposium of Ecology and Conservation of Cetacean in 1999 & 2000
Training Workshop on the Response and Treatment of Cetacean Stranding in 1999 & 2000.
Workshop on the Cetacean Rehabilitation and Medicine in 2001 & 2002.
Conducted several Volunteer Training Workshops in Northern, Southern, Middle, and Eastern regions of Taiwan)
Created and established several educational programs:
a) Hualien Summer Camps for teachers of elementary and junior schools
b) Taipei Workshop of Cetacean for teachers of elementary and junior schools
c) Educational programs in elementary schools located along the coast.
Cetacean Survey Poster & Photograph Exhibitions held in six coastal counties at East Coast from May 1999 to August 2000
Special Exhibition of Dolphins and Whales held at National Marine Museum & Aquarium in 2002.
Promoted the collection and research on stranded and by-catch cetacean specimens.
